Orlando’s midday lightning storms are notorious for disrupting plans, but there are plenty of things to do in Orlando when it rains. These 20 things will help you find a day of entertainment regardless of the weather. Enjoy!
Enzian Theater
The Enzian Theater shows alternative movies in Orlando. A perfect indoor activity to do in Orlando when it rains. Sit back with a mojito and watch an alternative flick at this nonprofit theater. Don’t be afraid to step outside of Hollywood and try something new. This theater may open up a whole new experience for you.
Enjoy Orlando’s Coffee Scene
Rain and coffee just go together. The City Beautiful has many coffee shops that you could spend weeks exploring. Our recommendation will be for the Drunken Monkey Coffee Bar to experience some comical relief along with your caffeine fix.
Friday and Saturday nights at the Drunken Monkey offers some stand up comedy as well. Don’t miss out and check out this coffee bar in Orlando when it rains!
Shop at Millenia mall
Another indoor activity that can be entertaining and fun. The Mall at Millenia seems less crowded than the other malls and it makes for a good place to (window) shop in Orlando when it rains! The left section of the mall houses designer stores while the right section has regular priced options.
Go to Drive Shack
You can still practice your golf swing in the rain at Drive Shack or Top Golf. These driving ranges are covered and allow you to enjoy the rain while knocking golf balls toward selected targets. Hang out with your friends, order some Arnold Palmers (lemonade and iced tea) and channel your inner Tiger Woods.
Visit a museum
There are many great museums to visit in Orlando when it rains. If you are a history lover, check out the Orlando Regional History Center or the Holocaust Memorial Resource and Education Center.
Art lovers can check out the Cornell Fine Arts Museum in Winter Park or the Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art.
Science enthusiasts can visit the Orlando Science Center.
We recommend the Zora Neale Hurston National Museum of Fine Arts in Eatonville to learn about the contributions of a central figure in the Harlem Renaissance.
SAK Comedy Club
Check out the SAK Comedy Club to see some of the best improv comedy in Florida. This is the place where Wayne Brady got his start! You can even take classes yourself to make you quick on your feet with witty jokes and comebacks. Sounds like a fun thing to do in Orlando when it rains.
Eat food on a rainy day!
Florida is home to many different cultures and comes with a large selection of restaurants. Some of the cuisines include Haitian, Cuban, Vietnames, Puerto Rican, and many more. Go ahead and develop a stronger palette by visiting some of these interesting places.
We recommend trying out the Nile Ethiopian Restaurant for a different experience or try some of the best vegan food in Orlando.
Go to the Dr. Phillips Center
A rainy day can lead you to visit one of the jewels of Orlando. Put your best clothes on and visit the Dr. Phillips Center. They put on shows that range from professional ballet performances to talks with public intellectuals.
Play at the Joysticks Arcade
Do you like Star Wars? Arcade games from the 80’s like PacMan? If you answered yes then check out the Joysticks Arcade and bar. You can sip on their signature cocktails (or soda’s) while hanging out in the light saber lounge. This place has enough entertainment for many rainy days.
Visit the historic house of Casa Feliz
Go see the crown jewel of Winter Park by visiting an exquisite piece of architecture. The Casa Feliz was built during the great depression by James Gamble Rogers II and stands today as the most celebrated home in the Winter Park area. You can take free tours from 12-3 on Sundays and Tuesday/Thursday from 10-12.
Go paintball at Battleground Orlando
Rain is no factor when it comes to indoor paintball. Put on the safety equipment, load your arms, select teams, strategize, and begin the onslaught of fun! You can play as a private group or with other competitors.
Indoor skydiving at iFly
Just because it’s raining doesn’t mean you can’t fly through the sky. Join IFly Orlando to enjoy some indoor skydiving.
Go see the Blue Man Group
Orlando is one of the few cities where you can see the famous Blue Man Group. The show is a mix of art and music that will leave you laughing, perfect indoor activity when it rains.
Tip: If you view a late show at Universal, you can get free parking after 6:00 PM every month besides October.
Attend an indoor sporting event
Don’t let the rain stop you from getting your sports fix! Check out some of the professional teams in the Orlando area. We got the Orlando Magic basketball team for some hoops and the Orlando Solar Bears for some high level hockey action.
Orlando is also home to some top tier high school sports as well. Check out Monteverde for some elite level basketball. Other high school teams can be found on rivals.com. You may be able to watch some future professional stars.
Go Go karting!
K1 Speed go kart racing is fast! I mean- they are really fast so hold on tight. These indoor tracks offer steep turns and a quick pace for adrenaline junkies. They also have races for kids and plenty of food to purchase for a fun day.
Try out the tourist attractions
Orlando is home to many tourist attractions that also offer indoor fun. All of the amusement parks remain open with indoor attractions and international drive is a go-to place for putt putt and interesting museums.
We recommend trying out Disney Springs and visiting their bowling alley (Splitsville Luxury Lanes). You can roll Mickey Mouse bowling balls and get in a Disney state of mind!

The Wine Room in Winter Park
Winter Park is a great local neighborhood to visit. You don’t have to let a little rain hold you back from going there. Wait out the rain in the Wine Room while lighting up your taste buds with their wide selection of wines. We always order the olive plate to make ourselves feel fancy. Even when it’s not raining, we have used this place for a fun date night.
Try out the cigar lounge
Try out a unique experience in Orlando at the Corona Cigar Company & Diamond Crown Lounge downtown. Cigars are all about the experience and this lounge has the perfect ambience for a great smoke (think Havana).
Not sure what to get or how to start? Just ask one of the employees to help you out. Try out the infused Acid Kuba Kuba Cigar if it’s your first time.
Visit a Speakeasy
Step back into the Prohibition era by visiting Hanson’s Shoe Repair located in one of the oldest buildings in Orlando. It’s a password entry, so make sure to get the password from their twitter page. Try our favorite cocktail, the classic old fashioned.
The gun range
There are plenty of indoor gun ranges to enjoy around the local area. All of which have professionals who can show you how to properly handle a firearm. If the rain isn’t too bad, we recommend Machine Gun America because not only can you shoot guns, you can also drive a tank!
We know this is not for everyone (Nikki does not like it), but it is worth a try!
Let yourself be heard!
